Henry Holland Hawkins was one of six children born to Henry Hawkins the
immigrant. He is buried in the graveyard at "Oakley." This is a
plantation adjoining "Prospect Hill," bought in 1793 and owned by
Lieutenant Edward Hamilton, who married Eleanor Hawkins, Henry's daughter.

Lieutenant Edward Hamilton, who married Eleanor Hawkins, Henry's daughter.

Had nine children: Samuel, Henry, Josias, Elizabeth, Martha, Eleanor,
Jane, Susanna, Ruth. Samuel and Henry died unmarried.

Josias (born about 1735, married Ann Waring, a daughter of Major Frank
Waring and granddaughter of Captain Basil Waring. [Brøderbund WFT Vol.
15, Ed. 1, Tree #1763]

Josias was a Colonel in the Revolutionary War. His correspondence with
the Maryland Council of Safety, between July and December of 1776, has
been published. He was ordered by Brigadier General Dent to raise three
companies of men from within his 12th Battalion to relieve other militia
guarding the St. George's River area.

Josias and Ann had eight children: Henry Holland, Francis Waring, Caleb,
Samuel, Thomas, Mary Hollyday, Eleanor and Martha. They lived in Port
Tobacco, E. Hundred, Charles County, Maryland.

Elizabeth married a brother of Ann's. Martha married Dr. Porteuse.
Eleanor married George Dent, who fought in the Revolutionary War. Jane
died unmarried. Susanna married a brother of George Dent. Ruth married
Mr. Young.

Will dated September 14, 1746, mentioned in genealogy written by family
member. Will dated 1751 at Hall of Records, Annapolis, Maryland. Book
28, page 70.

Mary Ann Harrison, widow of the late Nicholas Harrison, in the 71st year

The funeral services will take place from Holland Street M.E. Church
South, east of Aisquith Street, on tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon, at
half-past three o'clock. The members of the Church and friends of the
deceased are invited to attend the funeral services. The relatives and
immediate friends will meet at the residence of the son-in-law of the
deceased (Greenleaf Johnson, Esq.) No. 289 North Caroline Street, corner
of Chase, at three o'clock P.M., where she passed away in great peace.
