Carroll C. Sturgis
On Saturday night at 11:35 o'clock at Frazer, the death of Carroll C.
Sturgis occurred.
Mr. Sturgis was born at Cape Charles, VA., and lived there and New York
before coming to Chester Co. five years ago.
He was an active worker in the Frazer Presbyterian Church, serving on
the Board of Trustees, and organized the Frazer Men's Club. He was also
a member of Chester Valley Grange, No 1496, holding office of assistant
steward at
the time of his death.
He is survived by his widow, the former Mary C. Patton, a teacher in the
public schools of Philadelphia.
Mrs. Sturgis' father, William C. Patton, was a native of Hopewell,
Chester Co.

STURGIS-At Frazer, PA on Saturday Jan. 224, Caroll C., husband of Mary
P. Sturgis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at
Mauger's Funeral Home, 24 Monument Avenue., Malvern, on Wednesday, Jan.
28, at 11am.
Interment in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia. Friends may call on
Tuesday evening, 7 to 9 o'clock.
CARROLL CHASE STURGIS was born in Cape Charles, VA April 17, 1882.
CARROLL died January 24, 1942 in Chester Co., PA. East Whiteland
Township, Frazer. He married twice.
He married HELEN FLETCHER COOPER. HELEN was born in
Bethlehem, MD about 1892. HELEN died February 4, 1959 in Washington,
DC. HELEN was the daughter of FLETCHER COOPER and ANNA OZMON.
He married MARY "MAE" P. (wife of Carroll Sturgis).
1920 census shows him living in Baltimore, occupation as chef. Carroll
and Helen divorced about 1930. Carroll owned a restaurant in
Pennsylvania. He is buried at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
(death certificate) The telegram announcing Carroll's death was in
possession of his daughter. Another death registration letter was sent
to Mrs. F. J. Schmoele in Norfolk, VA. (It is unknown, but believed that
one of Carroll's sisters married Schmoele.) (research of Frank Courtney)
